Introduction to Chainmaille Jewelry

Check it out and buy a seat on dabble!

Learn the basics of making Chainmaille Jewelry with modern materials and techniques!  Sharing his passion for all things rings, Dan will walk Dabblers through basic ring manipulation techniques, and will teach three basic and beautiful Chainmaille weaves.

European 4-1, the weave most commonly seen in historical armor, can quickly be purposed for making earrings and bracelets, and gives great examples of how the rings behave.  This is also the basis for most maille mosaics, clothing, and accessories.

Byzantine chain and Box chain are related weaves, and make beautiful necklaces, bracelets and earrings of their own.  These two chain weaves are decepively beautiful and complex looking, but can be taught to beginners- allowing you to create something beautiful in your very first sitting.

The class size is being kept small so that dabblers can recieve the one-on-one attention that makes the difference between confusion and understanding.

The class will run approximately two hours, with the last 30 minutes of that scheduled for questions, open work time, and advanced techniques if Dabblers are ready for them.

Dabblers are encouraged to bring jewelry or beading pliers with them to the class, so they can practice with their own tools.

What's Provided

I will be providing: 2 pair of jewelry pliers for loan to each student, and a kit of approximately 400 rings to use and take home (about enough to do each of our projects at least twice, so you can continue to experiment!)
